Hi there!

My name is Geo Marais, and I am the founder of Geo Bees (Pty) Ltd. My beekeeping journey began in 2016, when I was in Grade 10, with the purchase of my first four hives. My first honey harvest yielded NOTHING—all my bees perished due to extreme heat and a lack of proper equipment. But lessons were learned, and in 2017, I successfully harvested my first 24 jars of citrus honey!

As my passion for beekeeping grew, I expanded my business, supplying superstores and local farm stalls. Originally named G-Bees (a nod to the Bee Gees band from the late ‘60s), I officially registered my business as Geo Bees (Pty) Ltd in 2020. Throughout my studies at Stellenbosch University, I managed my business while earning my BSc in Plant and Soil Sciences in 2024.

Today, I have grown my beekeeping operation to more than 500 hives and am incredibly blessed to be a full-time beekeeper at the age of 24. During harvest season, extra hands assist, and every jar is bottled and labeled with care, precision, and a commitment to quality. Thank you for supporting your local beekeeper!
